| Special Rules When I'm on Nicotine+: |
|
Unlike the Official client, there are some differences in how the Nicotine client operates. My rules are the same but the procedures are a bit different. First, all users will be hit with a notice that says that you have queued too much (Unless you are getting something less than 1MB). Once I make sure you are following my rules, I will add you to my buddy list (This removes that queue filesize limit). Otherwise, you will be banned and be prompted to read my rules, located below, and if you follow the unbanning process, I will probably lift the ban. |
| General Notice: |
|
I generally ignore people who only ask why they were banned, so if you got no answer from me, that's why. You want to not be banned? ~or~ READ HOW TO GET UNBANNED The rules are listed below the "News" and "Standard File Organization Format" sections. While these sections contain important supplemental information, the Rules are the most important part of this listing and should probably be read first. |

My internet connection isn't going to be stable for at least a few weeks. My provider uses Verizon's lines and Verizon just changed to all fiber-optic lines which fucked up the connection until they can pass around new phone boxes. Sorry in advance. As it turns out, the data on my old hard drive couldn't be salvaged, so I wiped it and I've lost about 80GB of my old music files. Sorry if you were hoping to get them. However, I plan to expand my shares now that I have my 300GB drive back in use. I also deleted my old news posts (Anything before July 2006)from my User Info so you don't have to scroll so much. |
| My Standard File Organization Format |
|
The format I use for file structuring is in an effort to make browsing and searching my shares a bit more user-friendly. Note that ~...~ indicates track information (for example, ~artist~ indicates that this field would be replaced by name of the artist of the file). My music folders are organized as follows. >>General Format: \ sorted \ \ ~genre~ \ \ ~artist~ \ \ ~artist~.~album~.~track#~.~title~.mp3 >>Compilation Format for "Various Artists" Albums: \ sorted \ \ compilation albums \ \ ~genre~ \ \ ~album~ \ \ ~album~.~track#~.~artist~.~title~.mp3 >>DJ Sets and Single-Track album format: \ sorted \ \DJ Mixes & Full Albums\ \~artist~ - ~title~.mp3 >>Video Format \ sorted \ \ video \ \~artist~ - ~title~.~file extension~ |
| Rules: Simplified Edition |
| Because my old ones were too long and evidently that translates into "Ignore Me" in lazy language. |

The act of downloading from me binds you to these rules and their respective consequences for not abiding by them. Ignorance of these terms is not an excuse for not abiding by them. I refer to rules by number and section ("§"). All of my rules are listed below. The section following the Rules Section details how to have a ban removed. 1. Share or be banned. a.) I count .mp3 format music, .zip, .rar, .7z, etc. compression formats, MPEG-based, .avi, .wmv, .mkv, and some other video formats as sharing. If you have none of these, sorry, but I'll ban you. b.) Share at least several hundred well-organized files. Though that amount is not *required*, it at least looks better and makes me feel like you aren't just leeching. If I can't easily tell what you have, it means you aren't organized enough and I won't waste my time searching. c.) There's a couple to be explained under this point. |>If you aren't sharing ("No files shared") when I browse you, I'll ban you. |>If you share userlist-only then you better make sure I'm on that list, at least until I finish getting the files from you. |>If I can't see your files, I will give you two more tries. After three tries, if I still can't see them, then I'll ban you. |>|> If it says "Waiting for file list..." for more than a few minutes, then I count it as a time-out and it uses one of your tries. If it says "Error trying to get file list" I also count it as a try. d.) If nothing you have interests me after a thorough search of your files, I will ban you. Sorry, but I only do trades at the moment. This leads to the next rule: 2. Expect me to do trades, I don't support leeching. a.) I usually make sure that I download something from you before I start your download. I've had too many experiences with people getting something then never coming back online. b.) If I finish downloading from you before I start you (usually the case), I will upload with all available bandwidth (Usually 30 to 40 KBps) until your transfers have completed. Otherwise, expect me to match your transfer speed. 3. Don't grab lots of files! a.) This one seems to get a lot of people, so I'll diagram the basic parts and only explain the more detailed aspects. Basically, only grab one album at a time. Here's how I define an album: |>1 track = 1 album |>2 to 12 tracks from one album = 1 album |>1 album = 1 album |>1 video = 1 album = 1 DJ Set Therefore: |>Any combination of two or more videos, albums, and/or sets = ban |>1 or more tracks from two different albums = ban b.) Now for the details. |> If an album has more than 12 songs on it, I will count it as multi-disk and will regard 10 tracks as 1 album. If you aren't sure, ask, and I might let you get away with a reasonable number of files above that limit. I tend to be more generous to people who are courteous enough to ask before pushing my rules. |>|>Queuing system files (such as .ini, .db, and AlbumArt files) will not automatically result in a ban, but I will regard them as downloading a track. This in turn can be used to fit overqueueing restrictions that result in a ban, such as the track overflow definition from the superpoint. For example, an album with 12 tracks + albumart file = 13 tracks, or two Albums, one of ten files, the other of three, which results in a ban for downloading 2 albums. |> I don't care about filesize. I trade by amounts, not size. If you get a 30 MB movie from me and I get a 300 MB album from you, tough, that's the way it works. I apply this rule to myself as well: if the 30 MB movie you have interests me, then I'll trade it for my 300 MB album. c.) In the event that I let you get away with downloading more than the aforementioned limits from me, I expect you to reciprocate the generosity and allow me to download the equivalent from you. This relates strongly to rule 2. 4. If you get banned, read the "How to Get Unbanned" section or leave me the fuck alone. Pretty self-explanatory. a.) If you say something nasty or offensive because you got banned, rest assured that I'll ignore you and you won't ever be unbanned. Instead, I'll add your name to my list of incompetent users so that others can avoid your infantility. |
| HOW TO GET UNBANNED |
|
First, don't ask me "OMG WHY U B& ME?" because it tells me that you obviously haven't read my rules, and I'll just ignore your messages until you reply properly or I add you to my Ignore List for breaking Rule 4a. Now, about the unbanning process. Talk to me if you think you have been unfairly banned. I may choose to lift the ban, given that: 1.) You provide me with a brief description of the rule you broke, which includes the following: A. The rule number (section optional but preferred) B. A short description of the part of the rule you broke (Don't copy-paste the whole section) C. What you tried to download when I banned you. Just calling it "music", "songs", or "a video" won't be accepted, because there's no way I'll remember who you are (let alone why I banned you) from that. If you are downloading multiple files, then tell me the artist and the name of the album you are downloading. If the file is a single audio track or a video, then just tell me the file name. For example, this would be perfectly acceptable: "Hi, you banned me for breaking rule 3 section c, because I grabbed 48 tracks from the album ' V.A. - This Is Neo-Goth '. I've removed all but 10 from my queue. Will you please unban me?" This would not be acceptable: "Hay dickhead why u ban me?! I just grabbed 3 vids wuts the fucking deal?!!1!!eleven" 2. I will browse your files when you send me the message. If you don't meet the requirements in my rules, then sorry, I won't lift the ban. |
